(Storage question) How are you storing your Mossberg long-term?

I am moving into a new place and trying to figure out my storage situation properly instead of just throwing everything in a safe and calling it a day. For the shotguns specifically, should I be storing the 500 with or without the spring compressed? I've heard both sides and I'm genuinely not sure which is more of an old wives tale. Also for anyone in humid climates, are you using anything specific to keep rust off? I've had good luck with Hornady desiccants but I've never stored a shotgun for extended periods. Not talking years, just want everything in good shape between sessions.
 
I keep mine cleaned, lightly oiled and stored assembled, spring compression isn’t an issue long-term and humidity control and regular wipe-downs matter way more for preventing rust
 
I store my 500 unloaded, with the action closed and magazine relaxed. Using a GoldenRod dehumidifier and silicone socks keeps rust away, even during North Carolina’s humid summers.
 
For my Mossberg 500 cruiser, I keep it ready with the tube loaded but the chamber empty. I added a GoldenRod dehumidifier along with Hornady desiccants to keep the rust at bay especially with how brutal Georgia humidity can get.

Georgia humidity is no joke and a GoldenRod plus desiccants goes a long way toward keeping rust and corrosion from becoming a problem.
