So I've been putting this off forever because I was worried I'd screw something up, but I finally bit the bullet and did a trigger job on my 500 this weekend. I followed the guide that a friend share with meva while back that was super helpful. It took me about an hour and a half total, and most of that was because I'm paranoid and kept triple-checking everything. The difference is night and day though. Before, the trigger felt gritty and had this annoying creep to it. Now it breaks clean and smooth. I'd say it went from about 7-8 lbs down to maybe 4.5-5 lbs? I don't have a gauge so I'm just guessing.
For anyone on the fence about doing this. if you're comfortable with basic tools and can follow directions, it's totally doable. Just take your time, don't force anything, and keep track of where the springs go. I put everything in a muffin tin (yeah, my wife wasn't thrilled) so I didn't lose the small parts.
