I just inherited an old Mossberg stock from my pops. The factory finish looks like bad spray paint and I’m ready to strip it down, but I’ve never done woodworking before.
Should I use Citristrip and a scraper, or just scrape it dry? Once it’s down to bare wood, can I just coat it in Boiled Linseed Oil for a natural look, or is there more to the prep?
Any first-timer tips to avoid ruining the wood?

Try stripping with the yellow can of Easy-Off, then soak for 10 minutes, scrub with a toothbrush, and wipe with a paper towel. Do this in 5 rounds, then rinsed thoroughly and let dry for a few days

I’d alsogo Citristrip, it is way easier on the wood. Light sand after then BLO in thin coats and take your time, you’ll be fine.
