My two cent on Hogue or Magpul stock

I've seen this question come up a lot, so figured I'd share my experience since I've now owned both. I had a Hogue OverMolded on my 500 for about two years. It is a great stock, the rubber overmolding is comfortable and it's got a decent recoil pad. I paid around $80 for it and there's been no complaints, really. It did what it was supposed to do. I switched to the Magpul SGA about three months ago just because I wanted to try something different, I paid $100 on sale.

Here's the thing, the Magpul is better, but not by a huge margin. The adjustable LOP is nice (I'm 6'2" so being able to extend it helps) and the storage compartments are actually pretty useful for choke tubes and stuff. The texture is grippier than the Hogue, which I like, but my wife thinks it's too rough. Build quality feels about the same on both and neither one rattles or feels cheap.

If you're on a budget, the Hogue is a great choice and you won't be disappointed. If you've got the extra $20-30 and want the adjustability, go Magpul. You really can't go wrong either way.

Yeah Hogue’s simple and cozy and Magpul’s modular and slick, so it depends if you tweak or just shoot

just do not buy Hogue over mold for a Rem 700 , its so flimsy you can shake it like a willow branch , i have Hogue OM on a AR and like it but its applied over a aluminum tube , the Rem 700 stock was aridiculous fumble
