Mossberg patriot rifle best budget scope options?

I am looking for scope recommendations for my Patriot in .308. I've got about $300-400 to spend. Mostly planning to use it for whitetail at ranges under 300 yards. I am considering the Vortex Diamondback or Leupold VX-Freedom. What are you guys running on your Patriots?

With that kind of money, I would worry about if it works over special features. Being able to see well when it is dark is more important than high magnification. Inside of 300 yards, you just need something you can trust.

Either works great, but I’d grab the Leupold and never second‑guess it in low light
